Lower School Sports Leaders Programme

img_4073Year 4 Sports Leaders

We can deliver or support your staff in the delivery of leadership programmes for students in year 4.

The course runs over 6 hours (2hrs over 3 consecutive weeks) and is delivered as part of the normal school curriculum programme.

Benefits to your school

  • Introduce pupils to a range of leadership skills, where they will learn about communication, organisation, teamwork and how to become a good role model to younger students.
  • Develop the skills, confidence and self esteem of young leaders
  • Teach suitable games and activities which will enable young leaders to lead small groups of younger student  at break or lunchtimes in the playground under supervision
  • Support students to create a students leadership group (Schools Games Crew) who can contribute to increasing levels of physical activity within the school community.
  • The year 4 trained Sports Leaders will also deliver a 2 hour KS1 – Level 1 Multi Skills festival to showcase their new skills to their younger peers.

We can deliver or support your staff in the delivery of leadership programmes for year 4. The training can be delivered as part of a normal school day or as a dedicated leadership session after school or during lunchtimes.

The course runs for 2 hours and can be done as one 2hr session or 2 x 1 hour sessions.

  • The Champions will develop new skills, gain new knowledge and support peers to healthy active lives
  • Introduce pupils to a range of leadership skills where they learn about communication, organisation, team work and how to become healthy role models
  • Support other students to create a student leadership (School Games Crew) who can contribute to healthy active lifestyles within the school community.

youngambassadorslogoBronze Young Ambassador Programme

A development opportunity aimed at exceptionally committed Year 4 Sports Leaders or students who have proved to be excellent volunteers in a school sport environment. The Bronze Young Ambassadors work in their school, supporting the development and promotion of PE and School Sport. The programme offers opportunity for students to further develop to lead their peers, to be role models in the school and to influence and inspire other young people.

The course is trained Centrally at Vandyke Upper School for 3 hours with all the Bronze Young Ambassadors from with Leighton Linslade coming together to learn and develop each other.

Benefits to your school

The BYA’s are a valued volunteer workforce, with training and support they could.

  • Set up a School Sports Organising crew with the Change 4 Life Champions and Y4 Sports Leaders
  • Create and update a PE and School Sport noticeboard
  • Set up new Sports clubs
  • Run or assist with a school sport competition.
  • Make a presentation on sporting opportunities in school.
